Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules Daily Youth Restoring Serum Review

Monday 30 June 2014

So I've been using these little beauties for the last 2 weeks and I couldn't wait to tell you guys about them. I'm sure most of you have seen these little golden pods, and perhaps wondered what they do. Well let me tell you, these are little miracle pods....no, seriously! This serum is just amazing.

From the first application..I like to apply before going to bed, I noticed the difference straight away. Oh my, how smooth my skin was when I woke up the next morning...and every morning after that!

To apply you twist the 'handle' and squeeze out the serum. Some have suggested applying it to the back of your hand and apply by dabbing, but I like to put it all over and massage it in, not forgetting my neck. At first you may find it a little oily, but don't let that put you off. It easily soaks into the skin after a few minutes. At first I was worried about it being greasy and giving my a breakout but it did just the opposite.

It's difficult to put into to words just how smooth this left my skin. It was like someone came in over night and gave me the most hydrating facial ever.

This product, while i'd aimed at anti-aging, it's never to early (ok too early if you're still in your teens perhaps) to start thinking about preventing rather than covering up wrinkles and these little capsules of joy are now a firm favourite in my skin care routine. The price might be a little off putting, but personally I don't mind paying a little extra for a product that actually works. If you've still yet to be convinced just take a look around the web and you'll find nothing but rave reviews!

Have you tried the Ceramide Capsules Daily Youth capsules?

[EVENT] Lierac Summer Event

Saturday 14 June 2014

Last week I was invited along to the Lierac event to celebrate their Sunific collection, just in time for summer. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m in full summer mode now, and it’s all about the sun protection while still looking flawless and fabulous!

The venue of the event was at the rooftop of the Golden Tulip Hotel in St. Julians, it was a warm evening and we had beautiful views of the sea. When we arrived we were greeted with a glass of yummy Aperol..the scene was well and set for the evening.

We were given a introduction to the products, and some of them I have on my wish list at the moment. They have everything from sun cream and oils, to sun primers (these get your skin ready for the sun, so you get a better tan, in a shorter space of time) which I was really interested in, as well as the Iridescent powder, which is for your face so you apply like mineral make up and give you SPF 30 protection.

While at the event we also got to check out some body care products, you show more skin in the summer so you might as well have it looking it’s best right? I got to try the Sensoral Exfoliator with 3 flowers, follow by the Sensory oil. Let me just say, my skin did not only smell amazing after, it felt so smooth and hydrated.

I have naturally very pale skin, and every year I promise myself I’ll get a tan yet it never happens. So this year I’m going to see if some Lierac tan primers will help me on my way.

Have you got your sun care sorted for this year? What products are you using?

MAC lipstick collection with swatches

Thursday 12 June 2014

I thought it would mix it up today and instead of a review, I’d show my MAC lipstick collection. Everyone loves MAC lipsticks right? So here is my little humble collection. I have 14 in total and don’t plan on stopping any time soon....so here they are:

BRIGHTS
L-R
Impassioned, Girl about town, Brave Red, Vegas Volt, Candy Yum Yum

No lipstick collection would be complete without some bright shades. Actually as I’m sat here typing, I’m sure I have a few extra colours hidden away in clutch bags some where....

NEUTRALS
L-R
Hue, Angel, Plink, Fanfare, See Sheer

I’m going to use the term ‘neutral’s loosely here as obviously they don’t all fit into that category

BROWN/PINK
L-R
Viva Glam Gaga 2, Hug me, Viva Glam Gaga, Pervette

A little random fact for your - Pervette was my very first MAC lipstick!

So there you have, that’s all (what I thought was all) of my MAC lipstick collection. Personally I’m loving the bright shades this summer, especially Candy Yum Yum!

 What’s your favourite shade?

Do you like these types posts, let me know as I enjoyed doing this one?

La Roche-Posay Sunscreen Anthelios XL review

Monday 9 June 2014

With summer here, it's now time to talk about Sunscreens. While it might not be the most glamorous thing to buy, it's very important you look after your skin in the sun.

Being a huge fan of french skin care, it's only natural I would choose La Roche-Posay to keep my skin protected in the summer (and winter too!).

Lately I've been using 2 products from the La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL range: The extreme fluid and the Dry touch gel-cream. Both are factor 50+, which I always use on my face while out in the sun.

What I like about the Anthelios XL range is that it provides both UVB and UVA protection. If you've always wondered the difference...basically UVB are the rays that cause our skin to burn. It effects only the superficial layers of skin, and can cause permeant damaged if its constantly burned. Now UBA, these are the rays that cause our skin to age. They rays penetrate deep into the dermis and without proper protection can lead to premature ageing. So when picking sunscreen, especially for your face always make sure you buy one with UVB and UBA protection. Both creams are also fragrance and paraben free.

Anthelios XL Extreme fluid - 50+ : €15.70*
First up, I'll go over the packaging. Extreme fluid comes in the perfect size 50ml bottle, which is slim and has a nozzle which makes it easy to apply. As the name suggest, it's a very liquid formula, which soaks easily into the skin.Extreme fluid is perfect for sensitive skin that burns easily. It's also suitable for oily and acne prone skin.

I find that after apply, it leaves a tiny hint of white which is why I use this when I'm sunbathing and not wearing any make up. It's also water resistant up to 80 mins, so it's a perfect choice for when i'm at the beach or pool.

Anthelios XL Dry touch gel-cream: €14.90
This product comes in a handy 50ml squeeze tube, perfect for carrying around with you like the extreme fluid. The dry touch gel-cream formula is slightly thicker and the extreme fluid, but soaks into the skin and is dry to touch almost instantly. When I'm not sun bathing, I use the Dry touch gel-cream. This is also an anti-shine shine formula which works great as a primer underneath your foundation.

I have been applying this in the morning before leaving the house. Like with the extreme fluid, I would suggest removing any sun screen before you go out in the evening...well if you plan on taking any photos that is - we all know what happens with SPF and camera flashes - eek!

If you've yet to pick up your sun protect yet, make sure you head to your nearest pharmacy and pick up some La Roche-Posay, you won't just put any old moisturiser or foundation on your face - so don't make the same mistake with sunscreen. For more information, check out the La Roche-Posay Facebook page

Getting ready for summer 2014

Getting ready for summer 2014

I thought I would do a bit of a shopping post today, with summer almost here, if you've not already started planning your summer beauty routine. It's time to start thinking about it  and I wanted to share with you guys my favourite summer items.

When it comes to buying items online, I like to pick websites that offer free world wide shipping, one of my favourite sites is Lookfantastic.com and I find it to be a one-stop shop for most of the times I need. Let me show you how to get summer ready beauty goodies all from one place.

1. St Tropez Gradual tan £14.30 - I love using this product for summer. My skin always seems to take forever to tan, and this gives me a little helping hand alone the way without looking fake

2. Bumble and Bumble - Surf Spray £9.50 This is one of my summer essential hair products. Sometimes the weather is just so hot the thought of a hair dryer breaks me out in a sweat. A few sprays of this, and leaving my hair to dry naturally gives me perfect beach waves.

3. Essie Nail Polish £10.95 Wearing flip flops without a matching mani - pedi? I don't think so! Essie is one of my favourite brands, I love the formula. I also love bright summer colours.

4. Daniel Sandler Blush - £14.50 This stuff is great to carry around in your beach bag, from beach to bar, pop a few drops on and you're ready to go.

5. Jack Black SPF25 Lip balm £7.25 In the sun, you can't forget to look after your lips. I always wear an SPF on my lips. Nothing worse than burnt lips - ouch.

6. Benefit - They're Real Mascara £19.50 To complete the whole beach babe look, it wouldn't be the same without sexy lashes. They're real gets you those lashes you're after.

My essentials, are for a carefree but beach babe look without being too high maintenance. In the summer I like to go for a more laid back look, while still looking fabulous!

What are your summer essentials?

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm - Showy 220

Wednesday 4 June 2014

Back in February I did a post about the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms that I picked up from London. I had tried them at the time, but they had fallen into my ever growing pile of make up and got forgotten about, but I’ve rekindled my love with them and wanted to share again, especially since one of them is my new favourite lip product at the moment. ‘Showy’ is a bright hot pink, and I’m loving it at the moment. It’s the perfect bright lip shade for summer and I’ve been wearing it day and night recently.

As the name suggest it is matte, and I’m just loving this look at the moment. Sometimes I can be quite tame with my make up - colour wise, but for me this colour is really easy to wear. It also goes perfectly with NARS blush in shade Desire. In the picture below I’m wearing Desire blush and Showy matte balm.

So if you’re looking a pop of colour in your summer look, I highly recommend you pick up this lip balm. It will go well with most skin tones, so you really can’t go wrong.

What is your must have summer lip product?

Top Tip: Getting the most from your dry shampoo

Monday 2 June 2014

It’s more than likely that every girl has a can of dry shampoo lying around these days, be whatever brand you prefer. My brand of choice is Batiste. And if you don’t know what dry shampoo is, it’s for girls on the go, for when you’re in a pinch and just don’t have time to wash your hair or need a little touch up.

I try not to rely on dry shampoo, but there are days when I’m just way too tired and this little god send allows me an extra hours sleep. The basic instructions are to spray it on your roots, brush through and and grease will be absorbed. But today I’m going to share a little tip with you, which will  make those days a little easier.

When I know I shouldn’t be so lazy, but have already committed to using dry shampoo. The night before - I tie my hair up in a top knot/bun (which ever you prefer) and spray plenty of dry shampoo over my hair, and since it’s up, most of it gets to the root anyway. At this point, I look like I’ve aged 40 years with my grey hair, but if you’re alone or have an understanding boyfriend/husband/partner - you go to sleep with your granny hair. Voila - in the morning, fresh clean, non greasy hair.

I find using dry shampoo the night before and leaving it in over night, is 10 times more effective than using in the morning while doing my hair.

So next time, when you want an extra hour sleep, so pop this on before going to bed and you’ll be good to go in the morning.

For those of you in Malta, Batiste is now available from the follow outlets - click here

Event: Dolce by Dolce & Gabbana

Sunday 1 June 2014

On Thursday evening I was invited to the launch of Dolce by Dolce & Gabbana. The reception took place in the charming gardens on Villa Bolonga in Attard, hosted by VJ Salomone Marketing and I spent the evening mingling against the backdrop of the stately 18th century home, while classic italian music played in the background, which set the scene for Dolce.

Dolce & Gabbana’s new fragrance is very different from their usual style. They have captured the epitome of natural beauty and innocence and pay tribute to these qualities using White Amaryllis flowers, that were beautifully scattered around the event. White Amaryllis are a rare and delicate flower from South Africa, and this is the first time any perfume has used these flowers in it’s notes.

They have used headspace technology to capture the scent while the flowers in bloom, while at the same time avoiding any damage to this delicate flower. Very fancy right?

The packaging of Dolce is reminiscent of a vintage fragrance flacon. The flower stopper pays tribute to Sicilian customs, crafted to portray the marzipan sculptures seen in traditional Sicilian confectioners. A thin black grosgrain ribbon, presented in an elegant bow, conjures images of the white shirts and bow-ties that were a signature of early Dolce&Gabbana catwalk shows. The final, and most personal, touch: Dolce signed in a flourish of black script, a replica of Domenico Dolce’s  father’s own signature.

Dolce is available from leading retailers, so next time you have the chance, be sure to try Dolce. The fragrance is very light, perfect for summer and it’s also very wearable for both day and evening.

Have you tried Dolce yet?
