Bourjois volume 1 Seconde Mascara Review and Swatches

Sunday 27 July 2014

So today we’re talking about my new favourite drug store mascara that I’ve been wearing non stop for the last 3 weeks. As you can probably guess from the title of the post it’s the Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara.

The latest mascara from Bourjois gives you '360 degree seduction'. The brush has wraparound spherical bristles that gives you perfect volume from every angle. The wraparound spherical bristles allows the mascara to coat the whole lash, and the straight bristles on the brush defines each individual lash.

From the first application I was hooked, it was very easy to notice the difference in my lashes straight away, you can see the difference in the before and after photos below:
Before

After

Not only goes it give you the ‘oomph’ that I look for in a mascara, it also lasts the full day until I remove it before bed. Speaking on removal - this mascara comes off as easy as it goes on, which is a blessing. The Volume 1 Seconde, I think is hands down one of the best drug store mascaras that I’ve used. So if you’re looking for a new mascara (if not you need to be!), I highly recommend you pick up this little beauty next time your near a Bourjois stand.

Have you tried the Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Mascara yet?

A day in sun with Hawaiian Tropic...

Wednesday 16 July 2014

With the sizzling hot sun in Malta, it’s important that you look after you skin properly and ensure you are fully protected from head to toe. Now that the weather has finally realised it’s summer, last weekend I decided to take advantage of some rays to top up start my tan, with a little help from Hawaiian Tropic Malta.

With my own little piece of paradise on my terrace, I looked out all the essentials for a day of relaxation. With Ed Sheeran blaring away, I topped up my water jug (remember it’s very important to stay hydrated in the sun), laid out my towel and started applying my Hawaiian Tropic Satin Protection 50+ (I’m very pale!) , not forgetting my lips I applied some Hawaiian tropic lip gloss and settled back with a stack of glossy magazines.

Hawaiian Tropic Satin Protection applies easily and evenly to the skin, even with factor 50 - it didn’t leave me looking even whiter than I already am. The ultra radiance formula soaks in easily and gave my skin a little bit of a glow so my white skin wasn’t blinding others. The cream is also oil free so there was no chance of me slipping off my sun lounger! If you’ve ever used Hawaiian Tropic before you’ll know how amazing it smells, it brings back fond memories of holidays with its coconut and tropical fragrance.

Now this all sounds great - but does it protect your skin from sun? The short answer is - Yes with an A+ rating. Hawaiian Tropic Satin protection and lip gloss both protect your skin from UVA (4* superior rating) and UVB rays, which is the first thing I look for in a sun screen. I feel it’s important to have both because while UVB are the rays that burn your skin, UBA are the rays that cause premature ageing in the skin. Neither of which I want to happen, so always pick up sun protection with both.

While getting my tan on, I made sure I reapplied protection every few hours to stop getting burnt. Not forgetting to top up my lip gloss, not only did I look fabulous with a glossy pout - it stopped my lips from getting burnt as well. The non sticky gloss just glides on, and is also moisturising - not to mention that the Island berry flavour smells amazing which i've been using daily since.

After an exhausting day doing not much, having read all celebrity gossip I called it day around 4pm and hit the shower to wash off my sun cream and admire my tan in the bathroom mirror - there is just something about showers that make your tan look ten times better - right?

After feeling refreshed, I applied the Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration After Sun to keep my skin moisturised. The dual ribbon formula is infused with cooling aloe gel and ultra moisturising lotion which left my skin silky smooth. Even the next morning I noticed that my skin was still silky smooth. This is another Hawaiian Tropic product that smells amazing with its coconut and papaya fragrance, with such a holiday smell it was almost disappointing that I had to go to work the next day and not do it all over again!

If you're spending any time in the sun this summer (which i’m sure you will be..) I recommend you check out the Hawaiian Tropic range if not for the A+ protection but for the amazing smell alone (but protection is just as important!). They have a full range of protection factors as well as tanning oils for those with already tanned skin as well as after sun care.

Hawaiian Tropic Satin Protection SPF 50+ 200ml - €12.95*
Hawaiian Tropic Island Berry Lip Gloss SPF 25 - €5.95*
Hawaiian Tropic Tanning Oil Intense SPF 2 200ml - €9.95*
Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration After Sun 180ml - €10.95

L'oreal Super Liner review

Monday 14 July 2014

L'oreal Super Liner Black Lacquer - £6.49

A few months ago while back in the UK, I popped into Boots for some 'essentials' and came out with a bunch of 3 for 2 offers. One of the items that I picked up was this Super Liner from L'oreal. I have been meaning to tell you guys about this for months, but some how this never made it on the blog. So today is the day I tell you about my Holy Grail eyeliner!

Now personally I prefer liquid liners to pencil, well for my upper eyelids anyway at least. Everytime I run out I try a different brand as I never quite found the perfect one....until now! I've tried MAC, benefit, and countless drugstore ones, some were good but this liner just blows the rest of them out of the water!

The product comes in a long pencil like tube, which you unscrew. The 'handle' part is really easy to hold and gives you total control. The felt nib is firm but flexible, allowing precision application.

The staying power on this is great. I can go a whole day (12 hrs +) and it doesn't smudge or fade at all. It looks like I've just applied it.

I fell in love after the first time I used it. It's not often I used a product only once and say 'wow' but with the Super liner I did. It's difficult to put into words just how great this liner is, but i'll 100% be repurchasing (and stocking up) next time i'm near a L'oreal counter.

Have you found your holy grail eyeliner?

What’s in my travel Make up bag

Sunday 13 July 2014

A few weeks ago I headed to Amsterdam for the week on a work trip. With my job I have to travel a few times a year, as well as traveling for pleasure (or so they ask at immigration...business or pleasure?!) so I’ve got packing the essentials down to a T, as well as the ability to pack a suitcase 1 hr before bed.

So I thought I would show you what I take in my make up case when I go away.

Face
For a primer I took the Max Faxtor Facefinity, as well as my La Roche Posay lip balm
For foundation I took a selection - No7 Beautifully Matte for during the day, and Double Wear for the evening. As well as 2 NYX stay matte foundations that I use for highlighting and contouring.
Collection 2000 concealers in shade 1 and 4, where my concealers of choice for this trip (and most other days too)
Can’t go anywhere with my Chanel bronzer, and to top it of Collection powder.
To top it all off Urban Decay - de-slick setting spray.

Also just as I’d finished packing my case, I uploaded these photos to the computer for editing and noticed....I’d forgot to pack blusher! So thank you blogging world...I would of went away without blusher. Which was NARS orgasm and desire.

Eyes
As an eyeshadow primer, I popped in my MAC paint point in painterly.
For eyebrows, I used MAC pencil in Spiked
For a liner I used the L’oreal super liner (this is my holy grail of eyeliners!)
I took two palettes with me, the Naked 3 and my own MAC neutrals.
And for my eyelashes I took with my the L’oreal Volume million lashes

Lips
I actually ended up taking more lip products with me after I took this picture, I popped in a few of my favourite Revlon Matte balms too. I also took Chanel - boy for a neutral day look, and two YSL rouge volupte for evenings.

What do you take in your make up bag when you travel?
